Dibru-Saikhowa National Park: Assam’s Untamed River Paradise

Nestled in the floodplains of the mighty Brahmaputra, Dibru-Saikhowa National Park is one of Northeast India’s most enchanting wildlife sanctuaries. Known for its diverse ecosystems, vibrant birdlife, and rare animal sightings, it offers an unforgettable experience just a short drive from Duliajan.

Whether you’re a nature enthusiast, birdwatcher, or simply someone seeking a peaceful day in the wild, this national park is a must-visit in Upper Assam.

A Unique Riverine Ecosystem

Declared a biosphere reserve in 1997 and a national park in 1999, Dibru-Saikhowa spans over 340 square kilometers across Tinsukia and Dibrugarh districts. It’s primarily composed of grasslands, swamps, semi-evergreen forests, and river islands, making it an ecological haven.

One of the park’s most special features is that it’s largely a non-vehicular zone, accessible by boats and foot trails—adding to its raw, untouched charm.
